David Jones - Chairman of the Board
Chrysalis Ventures

Recognizing the absence of resident venture capital managers in the Ohio Valley as a business opportunity, David founded Chrysalis Ventures in 1993. To this task he brought a varied background in business, law, and banking. At Chrysalis, David has worked with some of the most exciting growth companies in the Southeast and Midwest, including Six Flags (formerly Premier Parks of Oklahoma City), Tritel (merged with Telecorp and sold to AT&T Wireless), Regent Communications (sold to Jacor Communications, which was sold to Clear Channel Communications), Regal Cinemas (sold to leveraged buyout funds), Healtheon (sold to WebMD), and High Speed Access Corp (IPO and later sold to Charter Communications). He currently focuses primarily on healthcare investing and chairs the management company and funds’ investment committees.

Gardiner Garrard
TTV Capital

Gerrard is a co-founder and managing partner of TTV Capital. He has more than ten years of venture capital experience. He has served on the board of 12 TTV fund companies and currently serves on the board of directors of Bluepoint Solutions, Connecture, CRE Secure, FTRANS, FX Bridge, IAS and Perimeter eSecurity. In addition, in 2003, he became the interim CEO of a portfolio company, stabilizing operations and securing a merger that allowed the investors to see a positive return on investment.

Jim Gilbert
LiveOak Equity Partners

Gilbert graduated from Hobart College (BA 1970) and Georgetown University Law Center (JD 1974). He spent two years (1974-1976) as an Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice. He then spent 13 years (the last five-and-a-half as a partner) with the Atlanta law firm of Hansell & Post (now part of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue) working on various trade regulation and technology matters. In November of 1988, he became a Vice President and the first General Counsel of HBO & Company (now part of McKesson/HBOC). During his entire eight-year tenure at HBOC, Mr. Gilbert served as General Counsel. During the last four years of his stay, he was promoted to Sr. Vice President and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of several of the companies purchased by HBOC, including the healthcare technology operations which HBOC acquired from IBM, Baxter International, and First Data. In September of 1996, he became President and COO of IMNET Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: IMNT), another supplier of healthcare information systems, which was acquired by HBOC in 1998. In July of 1998, Mr. Gilbert co-founded LiveOak Equity Partners, a $70-million Atlanta-based venture capital fund focusing on investments in information technology and healthcare. LiveOak has invested in 15 companies. Mr. Gilbert serves on the Board of Directors of several of those companies.

Jim Witherington
SSM Ventures

Jim joined SSM in 1973 on its formation as a financial advisory firm, and has served as advisor and confidant to the CEO’s of hundreds of Southeastern growth companies. Jim has been directly involved with the majority of the firm’s investments in the Southeast. He focuses on applying his knowledge and experience across a broad array of industries to investment opportunities in the Southeast, and he is deeply involved in the structuring and valuation of SSM’s investments and in realizing on portfolio companies.

Doug Schneider
Connecture, Inc.

As Chef Executive Officer, Doug brings over 20 years of experience in the healthcare information technology industry to Connecture. Throughout his career Doug has led successful and high performing management teams which have in turn delivered business growth and new market innovation. He has experience across the healthcare industry; with health plans, government agencies, employers, and providers; and directly managing marketing, product development, sales and client services functions. Doug was with the healthcare business of Thomson Reuters for sixteen years, most recently as EVP Innovation where he was responsible for product management and delivery, healthcare analytics, and new market innovation.

Dan Maynard
Connecture, Inc.

As President, Dan brings to Connecture over 20 years of health and life insurance technology business experience including leadership roles in operations, software development, financial management, and corporate business development activities. Throughout his career, he has built and led several companies, including CCISoft and iSolutions. In 1999, Dan formed Riverwood Solutions where he served as President and CEO through the merger with Connecture in 2004. Dan guides sales, product development, client and hosting service operations and directs the strategy and innovation for Connecture's payer business, including expanding the InsureAdvantage suite of products into new market opportunities.
